    C1 Courtesy Light Switch

I need to know the location of the door jamb courtesy light switch. The previous owner glassed over the original holes and before I drill into the car I would at least like a reference. I tried to sand down to see if the filler would break at the hole but to no avail. Help, comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Gary

OK, Gary. I'll give you 1 example from 1 door on 1 '62 Corvette. Before I do this , however, seems you could sand or strip paint in jamb area and easily locate what you are looking for. To me, the measurements I offer are far more risky... Open drivers door, top hinge "cover plate" will appear as a backward C. Put tape measure on vertical portion and measure inboard 1 5/8". Then, using the top of the horizontal C, extend a line inboard. The point of intersection of these two is the C/L of the top mounting screw in this door of this car. Was it the same in 58/62??? Please seek a higher authority... Best Wishes, Dennis

That is the bottom of the top of the horizontal C from which you extend that line.

            Gary...

As my doors are off, I measured from the door hinge opening to the center of the courtesy light switch button. (you may have to remove the door hinge cover) Measuring from the top of the opening, measure down 1 inch... measure from the hinge opening side, measure 1 1/4 inches to your right (drivers side). (opposite for passenger side) Using the switch gasket as a guide may help locate the center switch hole.

Hope this will meet Dennis' location.

Thanks Guys, your measurements are right on the money. I used your measurements as a guide then I concentrated sanding a little harder in that area and was able to locate the center hole. Thanks again, Gary
