The valve covers on my 1965 365 horse motor look great (correct, blah, blah, blah), but the right side cover weeps oil, and is usually greasy after about 1 hour running time. What can I do to fix this annoyance. No, it isn't the gaskets----the block is dry, and the oil residue is on the upper side of the cover.

Re: Aluminum Valve Cover Porosity
Buy a can of spray Glyptal (paint/sealant for sealing porous castings and insulating electrical windings). I'ved used it for years on rotating equipment and it's inert to hot lube oil, diesel and gasoline. Wipe the inside of the covers down with lacquer thinner and spray on two coats. Many engine builders us it to slick-up the inside of their blocks and to trap any sand which might shake out.- Top
