C3 engine swap question

Hi Guys,
I may have a bearing problem with my original 327/300 engine (68 coupe, manual trans). I was offered a 327 double hump from a 65 impala ss. Will it fit? My chiltons book isn't specific about years relative to one another. I'm hoping that I can swap a few parts from my original and be OK. Then, I'm in no rush to do the original motor and my wife and I can enjoy the car this summer.

It should fit fine - you might have to swap oil pans for steering linkage clearance, or you may not - can't remember if the passenger pan is that different.

The pre-75 passenger car oil pan is different than the 63-74 Corvette pan. However, I think that the passenger car pan will fit ok. If not, you can obtain a "cheapie" 75-79 style passenger car pan at an auto parts store. Kragen has them for about 30 bucks. The 75-79 passenger car pan (with left hand dipstick) will fit your application with no problems, at all. You may need to change oil pump pick-up, as well, if you have to change the pan.

You may also need to transfer your balancer, depending upon which balancer that the 65 has installed. If the one on the 65 engine is the same thickness as yours, then you don't need to change it to get proper pulley alignment with your original pulley system.
