Hi, just replaced the Rochester QuadraJet carb on my 1970 Corvette with another one. It has a small tube about an inch long sticking out on the front, drivers side, looks like some vacuum tube that should have a hose on it. Car runs fine but was wondering what it is for. The PCV valve hose hooks up on the other side. Any idea what is supposed to go here? Thanks

Re: Rochester Carburetor
Don and Clem-----
Yes, usually the small 1/4" nipple on the lower driver's side is for the distributor vacuum advance. However, I don't think that 1970 used this location for distributor vacuum advance. 1970 California Corvettes used this port for the evaporative emission control system (EEC). I don't think that non-California carbs had the port, but they may have had it with a cap.
Also, a SERVICE carb or an incorrect carb, may have the port. So, we get back to Clem's question of what number is on the carb?In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Rochester Carburetor
I have a 70 California carb and has that vac connection. Another one is at the right side. Those vac connections go to the TCS solenoid 4432 (base engine) in the pass side of carburetor/manifold. There is no vac connection at rear as other Qjet have. Mine is 7040503.
