    C2-underhood black out gloss

    Hello all,
I've been reading my judging manual which states blackout proceedure is done with a semi gloss finish. On all the cars I've looked at (ie, cars for sale) it seems the inner fenders are much more of a flat black than a semi gloss. Is this only because of the texture on the fiber glass is flatening the tone? I know that many suppliers sell "black out" paints but it's just as easy to use local suppliers. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

With age and continual exposure to road grime, the sheen of the blackout, even when "clean", flattens out quite a bit. If you apply the semi-gloss and then drive the car for awhile, it will look just like the ones you see.

How timely, I just sprayed my underhood this morning with flat black after rebonding repairs to the underhood support.

Any semi gloss black work good? or low gloss black I think they call it at the local Pep Boys?

I have been using the 500 deg engine paints for both underhood and a recent valve cover repaint.
