Re-hrome

A buddy of mine has a 64 that he is restoring. His bumpers are solid and rustfree but he wants to get them re-chromed. Can anyone recommend someone who will do a quality job in a reasonable amount of time, weeks not months?

I have had excellent luck with Hanlon Plating in Richmond VA. The longest turnaround I've experienced has been 2 weeks door to door, and his prices are very reasonable. Phone (804) 233-2021.

Try Martins Chrome in Philadelphia (215 331-5565) They re-chromed the front and rear bumpers on my 66' and did a very good job.

What is a reasonable price to pay for four bumpers?

Define "reasonable" Personally, I think that the prices that Librandi's and Martins, etc. are charging foe triple plated show chrome are highway robbery. I paid $110 each for my '69 rear bumpers a few years back. Factoring in inflation, I'd say no more than $140 each piece. Then again, most folks insist on triple plated copper/nickle/chrome plating with the bumper as flat, smooth, and perfect as can be, and are willing to pay the price. Too bad the bumpers were never this perfect from The General. Me, I've been delighted with my 2-step rechromed bumpers that have shown zero deterioration in the 4 years since they've been done. Keep a nice coat of wax on 'em and you'll be fine.

Just my $0.02 and I know I'm swimming upstream against the current on this one.
