I have a C2 and am the original owner and the weld I see in the picture is not factory.

After a closer look, it is factory where the bottom rail is welded to the largert tube. Sorry about that. As for the tracks, they are as was stated above. They are just stinger marks and are all over the frame.

Aside from earlier comments re the welds, I think it is also important to keep in in that an automatic trans will likely limit your future buyers as many, and certainly myself included, feel half the fun of driving our Corvettes is going thru the gears inthat 4-speed gearbox. The opposing argument is that automatics tended to get driven less hard than their 4-speed counterparts. Good luck whatever you decide.

That is an excellent point about the automatic. Vintage Vettes with autos usually don't bring near the money a 4 speed will. As we baby boomers who are the prime buyers of old Vettes age, the autos may increase in popularity.

Thank you David. My 1979 L-82 is a TH-350 so I am used to the automatic. I am getting lazy in my old age I guess!

Maybe at this point, what you really need to be asking is not what we think of the frame, but if anyone is located close to this car to give an initial inspection to save you the price of an airplane ticket.

Also, you have to decide what you really want to do with this car and what your goals are. I'd recommend you read this:

It sounds like it is a nice car for driving, club events, and weekend fun. It sounds like you are going to be rolling a few dollars (quite a few) into it if you wish to go the judging route.
