    C2 Transistor Ingnition K-66

Can the transistor ignition 'amplifier'? (black box mounted on the front of the left side inner fender) be rebuilt or must it be replaced? I would like to return my 66 coupe back to the original ignition system and I have the original box. The wiring harness is pretty cut up but the box looks OK. Can the harness be purchased separately? Your responses are, as always, appreciated.

The "guts" of the module can be replaced with a modern unit and installed into the inside of your original box. Dave Fiedler, TI Specialites sells them. This way you get the best of both worlds, meaning modern electronics with an original look.

        Steve,
I believe Dave is in Indiana, but don't have the details with me. He is a Hemmings and Driveline advertiser and a real credit to the Corvette hobby. He also provides a full TI and distributor services so he can help in many ways. He has assisted me with a couple of TI problems.

-------Harness is also widely available thru almost any Corvette retailer.I have had evperience with Lectric Limited and the harness is fine.Probably most of the other retailers are selling LLs harness anyway, although there are other companys manufacturing Corvette harnesses..........Bill S

Dave is a great guy and wonderfully helpful, I have used him for parts, but I did find out at least on the harnass he is selling the units you can buy directly from suppliers at a mark up. I can't think of the brand, He had them for $125 or so at Bloomington last year, but discovered it was available direct from the manufacturer online for $95 (That's OK, I bought multiple items and he cut me a package deal price). It is hard to beat Dave for a helpful guy...you almost want to kick some business his way as he is very free and helpful with information on these units...Craig

the harness you are describing i may be able to help you with , are you talking about the pigtail of harness that comes out of the module ? or was the module on your car different from the 69 box and not have that pigtail of aprox 28"
, if you can use the wiring i have you are welcome to it. It is the pigtail that has 3 leads and is a lead that plugs into harness. you may have a box that has the plug at the amp box , just trying to help.

                    Kelly

Thanks for the offer. From the condition of the harness that I have, I will need everything from the plug at the amp to where ever it hooks into the main harness. I need to review the detail wiring diagram to determine my needs. I will keep you offer open, if that is OK, and let you know. If you would like to e-mail (nascar86@aol.com) me a little more specific description of what you have, that would be appreciated. Thanks.
