To all you window regulator gurus out there..... I have located what appears to be a pair of power window regulators (3762262 & 3762261). Each have a tab bent down near the motor inside a half circle. This is different than some others I have seen (perhaps non power) where the tab is not bent at all and therefore does not protrude beyond the mounting surface. Being bent as it is, it looks as though it would cause the unit not to sit flat when bolted in place because the tab would hit and not allow the surface to sit completely up against the door when bolted in place. Can someone explain why these are bent and if they are correct if bent in this fashion? Could some doors have been drilled differently somehow to accomodate this bent tab? Perhaps I am missing some spacers to let the tab clear the mounting surface on the door? The P/Ns seem to make sense but I am not sure what I found or if I have all the parts. Please help!!! Re: C1 Window Regulators
The power window doors (different inside, slightly, than manual window doors) have a thin tapered slice of fiberglass that the manual window cars do not have. These have a relief in them, and into the inner surface of the door panel, for that tab to locate into. It's part of the mounting alignment, along with the four screw holes, which are located in a different spot than for the manual window regulator holes. Hope that helps.

Re: C1 Window Regulators
Mike, thank you for your prompt reply! I have a few more questions now that I know this if I may be so bold to ask. Was this fiberglass piece bonded to the door or free floating? Is there somewhere I can get the dimensions of the tapered piece? Do all doors, whether power or not, have holes in them for a manual crank mechanism? Thanks again for your help! John # 21388- Top

Also, Mike Ernst wrote an excellent article on power windows which is in the Restorer Archive CDRom (available at the NCRS online bookstore.)- Top
