I know they list add-on values for different options on Corvettes in the current Corvette mag's. Isn't factory Air(midyear $6,000 add-on)on a 63coupe make the car more valued than a normal air option for a 65-67?

Re: 63 SW Air coupe
Current NADA Classic and Collectible Guide lists C-60 add-on for a '63 Corvette as:
$2000 - Low
$3000 - Average
$7000 - High
The three numbers represent the C-60 add-on based on the overall condition of the particular car. The better the car overall, the higher the C-60 premium.

Re: 63 SW Air coupe
Of course, guides like this should always be tempered in how they are used. I've used the online guides and found that in the 1966 Corvette with the optional six cylinder engine wasn't as high as the V8. However, the turbo did add value.
Likewise, the best combination on the '63 was the very rare fuel injected 409 ones with air conditioning.
While the intent may be good, the execution doesn't always work that well and so you find these guides often give prices that are not representative of the real world. (And cars not representative of what was built.)
Naturally, the 270-280 (YMMV) '63 AC cars are much more rare than the other years which average roughly ten times as many AC cars each. By simple supply and demand, the '63 AC cars are going to cost more than an equivalent other year.
The basic bottom line - you pay what the seller wants, or find another - price guide or no price guide.
By the same token, the value of any car is what you can actually get someone to pay for it, not a number in a book.- Top
