    L-79 fan belt

Where would I find an exact fit, replacement fan belt for a '67 L-79?

The small one, running crank-to-H2O pump only.

    Thanks.

L-79 fan belt; Have you checked with Quanta?

    Tom,

Have you checked with Quanta Products? I have the impression that they are one of the better supplies of correct belts, but I can't confirm this based on my own experience. Please let me know what you find out, since I will need such a belt for my '66 L79 in the near fture.

As Gary B. states, Quanta makes a great repro unit that passes inspection well. If you are looking for a replacement, I have had luck with Gates belts at the local auto parts stores. One of my Gates belts was a tad short so I went up 1/2". I believe the discrepencie is due to the fact that the new Gates belt is about 1/16" wider than the original and sits a bit higher in the pulley.

I would go the Quanta route myself. Use Quanta direct, as some vendors (Long Island Corvette Supply) use a 1 size fits all aproach.

            Tom------

The original belt was likely GM #3837810. This was a 3/8" wide belt of 34-3/8". Except for reproduction, this might be a very hard width/length to find today. Since this belt's length is critical, you must use a proper fitting belt.

The GM replacement belt for your application is a 7/16" wide belt of 35.0" length. The wider SERVICE belts require a slightly longer length. The one you need is GM #9433722 which you can purchase for a GM list price of $13.44.
