    C-1 Tranny turns in neutral.

Just finished body on resto on '62. Have car up on jacks with axle level. Tranny slowly turns while linkage is in neutral (Installed Hurst linkage on original T-10). Can stop turning with hand (at hub), but what on earth did I do installing driveline? 3rd & 4th gear hard to shift into.

Nothing to be concerned about. With the transmission in neutral and the clutch engaged, the input shaft to the transmission remains turning. Just the turbulence created by the spinning gears inside the transmission cause the output shaft to rotate slightly. Now if it does this with the clutch disengaged, well. . . . .that may be some cause for concern about the clutch not disengaging all the way. Hard shifting into 3rd and 4th is probably just adjustment of the shifting linkage. Go back through the basic setups.

        Dennis & Lonnie,
Thanks a ton for your time and info. The drive shaft turns while shifter is in neutral and clutch NOT engaged. I've started engine while outside car (it starts without any trouble). Is this what you're referring to? Car is jacked up and brake drums off. Should I adjust clutch rod to fork? Sorry if this sounds corny, but sure got my attention!!!

          Don,
No, not "corny" at all. There aren't many bad questions, just bad answers! Anyhow, back to your problem.
The fact that the driveshaft turns with the clutch supposedly disengaged, can only mean that when you are pushing the clutch pedal down, it really is not completely disengaging the clutch. I could not began to speculate from this computer keyboard what may be causing this, but you should probably start by making sure the clutch is adjusted correctly. This may also explain why your shift to 3rd and 4th is a little tough.
          Good luck!
