63 dash question

were the two carrage bolt heads that hold the speaker under the speaker grille painted ? this can be seen through the speaker bezel along with the defrost bolt . the vinyl was red under the bolts ,the new ones I have from long island are cad, but were the bolts painted ,touched up or blacked out .or left cad to show through? I suspect this was the same through 67 ..thanks Bill
