rechroming specs and cost.

Could someone give me a quick lesson on rechroming, the various qualities of rechroming, and the expected cost thereof vs. the purchase a a similar NOS part. I need to know the type of quality of rechroming to specify when I get the chrome on my car refurbished prior to NCRS judging. Thanks

Don,

This question is similar to "how long is a string?" The answer is specific to a particular part; how good or bad is the condition, which chrome shop did the work, etc.

Could someone recommend a chrome shop that has done good work for them?
How much did it cost to do a front bumper that was in "fair" condition?
How long did it take?

I have seen high dollar rechrome jobs on bumpers that looked awful because the strip and prep work was bad.

A good job will be expensive.
Get recommendations for shops that consistantly do a good job.
NOS does not necessarily mean perfect condition and will be expensive anyway.

I had my 70 rear bumpers done at American Electroplating in Hawthorne, NJ. He charged my $ 150 per bumper and even straightened some parts.
