Paint color question

two questions;

1. What type / brand is best for the chevrolet orange for the engine of a 1970 corvette, 350/300? Is Duplicolor good?

2. What color red (brand and name) should I use to paint the flag that goes on the gas lid and hood of my 1970 corvette?

You'll find many have their personal preference regarding brand and application of Chevy orange along with a couple rather lengthy & informative threads on the subject in the archives. Personally, I like VHT, but that's my feeling.

On repainting the nose emblem, I don't think many attempt this vs. simply replacing with a 'correct' repro or NOS original. Reason: masking is tricky and if the paint has faded/weathered, the surrounding chrome is usually worn as well....

Testor's model paint works good on the emblems. You can bake it in the oven if your wife is gone for the day. Paul

Hi!

I purchased a can of Krylon Farm and Implement International Harvester Red paint # 1818 to paint my nose emblem. The color was almost an exact match to the replacement side emblems. I taped the areas where I did not want the paint with cutting tape and cleaned the over spray with a razor blade. I applied two coats and used a small spot-sanding tool to sand between coats. Polished with rubbing compound and wax.
