72 Starter date code

I found a starter for a 72 LT1. The part # is 1108418, but the date code is not correct, OF1, June 1 1970. Was this number starter used on something in 1970?

Yes, it was. Starter GM #1108418 was used on 400 cid small blocks during 1970. Not on Corvettes, of course.

Joe....Where did you find that info? Is it in the GM parts manual cross-listed? I was hoping it was mis-stamped.......

It came from an "obscure reference"; not a GM parts catalog.

By the way, this starter was also used on some 1969 applications, primarily big block (but not Corvette). However, given the date on the one you have, I'd say that it was likely originally used on the 1970 400 cid application or it was a SERVICE piece.
