    C3 Door VIN sticker

The blue mylar (sp) sticker on the driver door, it has numbers that look like the vehicle weight, but it does not add up for my car. On my '73 L82 Conv it states:

    GVWR 4119 GAWR FRT 1962 REAR 2167

Lookes as if it is saying that the Gross Vehicle Weight is 4,119 pounds. Can this be right? By the weights given by Chevy its curb weight should be 3,651 lbs. Is something else included for shipping?

Also what would the GVWR and GAWR stand for? I can see Gross Veh Weight, but what is the "R".

    Tom-----

The "GVW" refers to GROSS vehicle weight. That means the weight of the vehicle + the total weight of the maximum approved load (passengers, "baggage", fuel, etc.). The "GVAW" refers to gross vehicle AXLE weight. A spec is given for the front axle and the rear axle with the vehicle loaded to its maximum approved weight. I don't know why that the total of the "GVAW" weights is 10 pounds more than the "GVW" in your particular case.

I'm not sure what the "R" suffix means. However, I think that it may refer to "rated" (in other words, the number that the manufacturer rates the vehicle)

      Thank you

Thank you Joe. Appreciate the quick response. That 10 lb error is more then likely in my writing down the numbers
