Interior Door Panel Skins

Has anyone reskinned their door panels to keep the original panel?

Or is it just a waste of time and buy new panels?

I would think they would just peel off and use spray adhesive to reinstall.

Terry, the door skins that Corvette America really do work and look great. it will take you about 2hrs for each door panel. Follow their instructions and you can save your old panels that probably fit the door lots better than replacements will. Oh Year they are lots cheaper than new panels.

That's the opposite of what I've seen.

On the cars where I've seen them used, and I knew it, it was because they were the saggiest, sorriest looking things I had ever seen. Now, in those cases the owner had always put the new skin over the old one. Your thought of removing the old one first may work much better. Whe I saw them it was while judging at Carlisle. The hot sun allowed the new skins to just peel right off.

If your originals don't need much work, consider contacting a high end (Lexus, Mercedes) car dealership. Ask the guys who do used car prep who does the best vinyl repair, and have them look at your panels. Repair may be better than replacement.
