64 Amp Gauge Stuck Below Charge?

When I installed the Gauge Cluster in my '64 all gauges were showing normal positioning. After this was completed and new wiring harness installed and engine was restarted, I noticed that the amp Gauge was pegged below dis-charge. Even after turning off the engine and turning off the battery cut-off switch. Before I attempt to repair or replace the amp gauge, I would like an idea of what may have been the source of this problem.

      Richard,
I checked and the gauge is not fried, but I do have 12 volts on both terminals of the connector. I am almost certain that I installed the engine harness as the wiring diagram and assembly manual showed, but I guess I must have one crossed up. The other thought is if there is an error in the disgram?
Any thoughts, I will look over the wiring diagram while I watch the race.

        Richard,
I re-checked the pathes of the two wires and re-fastened these connections and it appears to be ok, with the exception of getting the gauge re-cal'ed.

        Thanks
