    C1 Stamp Pads

I have two '58 blocks one is a "CU" and the other is a "CT". On one of the blocks the "C" and "O" are rounded and on the other they are more square. I assume one of them is probably a restamp. Both have what appears to be broach marks in the pad. How can I tell if one has been restamped?

    TIA,

    Ted

    Ted--
Don't necessarily assume that one is or is not a restamp. They used several styles of stamps. Al Grenning can tell you much more, but I know that in 62 they used different types of stamps for several different characters. the stamps need to be taken into context with broach marks, etc.

Like Mike says, the Flint assembly plant used different characters for "O"s, the round, oval, and the square type. These were interchanged continuously. Also I's, L's, and 1's were interchanged. Doesn't mean your stamp pad has been altered.
