I am trying to find out the part number for the base of the interior mirror on my 1961. I can not make out the number in my AIM.I am not sure if it is original. The number is 3747942. The mirror assy has a dark grey mirror in it. It has a "S" in a circle on the back. Thanks, Joe DeLuca #37862

I checked out Rolands book and the part No; 3747942 (mirror base) is definately noted for 58-60 with part no: 3747940 (the mirror) but I haven't been able to find a reference for the 61-62's.
The miror in my 59 also had the tinted glass and the "S".
My guess is that they would be the same but I will keep looking and will let you know if I find anything.

The correct rear view mirror for a 61 and 62 has the tapered ends, gray glass, 3/32" flat band along the circumference, GUIDE stamped near the stud, and two chrome rivets, one on each side of the stud. Can't speak to the mounting base.Comment

Joe: I agree with Dave. Just checked my original '62 mirror and the only thing on the back of it is "GUIDE". No marks at all on the base.
