    Re: 69 L-88 engine specs

    Tim-----

Alan Colvin's "Corvette by the Numbers" will have most of the information which you inquire about. The L-88 cam specifications are also published in many other publications such as The Chevrolet Power Book and earlier versions of the Chevrolet Hi-Performance Parts Catalog. Crane Camshaft catalogs have specs for it, too.

All original L-88s (except, of course, 69s with THM-400) used flywheel GM #3866735. This is the same unit used for 1965 L-78s. It's a 12-3/4", 153 tooth, light weight nodular iron flywheel. It's successor can still be purchased from GM under GM #14085720.

The starter used for all L-88s (except 69s with THM-400) was GM #1108351. It used an aluminum nose piece as did most other starters for 12-3/4" flywheels. It was a HD starter with the long configuration armature and fields and can be identified externally by the spacer between the field terminal and the starter solenoid lower contact. Other HD starters also used the spacer, though, so you can't use this feature, alone, to ID an 1108351 or its equivalent.
