Exhaust Manifold Nuts

Any idea on where to purchase the correct exhaust manifold to exhaust pipe nuts?
They are described as 3/8-16X 3/8' thick zinc plated with anti seize coating,Part #3829086. The dealer says they only have the brass ones.LICS are stainless and don't look like the ones in Burrough's book. Thanks for your help,Kieran #11373

Kieran - Check out Paragon's catalog 2002 v.26, p.74, Item 6498K (lower left corner). Should be the puppies you're looking for. I haven't seen them offered by other vendors. Pete

So, the dealer says that he only has the brass ones? That's probably true. However, what they're not saying (and, likely don't know) is that the GM #3829086 nuts, as original, are still available from GM. They may not have them in stock, but they can order them, just like any other GM dealer. They list for about $1/each and I think they come in a package of 5.

The exhaust manifold nuts available as part number 3829086 as of a year ago have a different configuration than the originals used on 1968-1972 (and I suspect other years). The originals are an "acorn" style grip nut. The ones available last year were a deformed shape.

It is very difficult to score points if your nuts are deformed.

I used some of Paragons and they were very tight on new studs I thought the manifold might crack. I run a tap thru them so they don't lock.
