67BBpowerglide dust cover question

My 67 bigblock powerglide is missing the underpan known as the "splashpan" or "flywheel dust cover". This pan covers the flywheel and torque converter. I have searched all over the US contacting every parts dealer (new and used) only to find that the 67 big block powerglide took a different pan than all other years. This part is not available in NOS and has not been reproduced.
Can anyone tell me why the small block pan will not fit? Can anyone in the NCRS help me find this item?

Try the 65 to 67 Impala clubs thier big block PG cars should be the same as Corvette. Go on line to find those clubs.

steve i'd have guessed the underpan for your 67 427 Pg application would have been the same as any 62 to 67 aluminum powerglide but on checking the 72 parts book, low & behold ,the 67 PG big block underpan is unique. Its in group0.679 & the part # is 3831527. If you have no luck locating one, I'd try the 62-67 underpan Part # 3789959. It would be my guess that it will bolt on your aluminum powerglide case. By the way, the 67 PG equipped vets had another shield that fastened to the drivers side of the tranny in the vicinity of the kick-down linkage.In some ways it resembles the elphant ears air scoops found on the C-1 & C-2 big brake cars in that it has a metal frame and a rubber reinforced main body. Jimmy gregg of the caroline chapter had them reproduced several years ago and gave me one for my now departed 67 390 hp Pg c-60 coupe.

As far as Corvettes go, the GM #3831527 Powerglide cover was unique to 1967 big blocks with Powerglide. However, as far as Chevrolets go, it was not unique to that application. GM #3831527 was also used for 1963-65 Chevrolet passenger cars with 409 cid engines and Powerglide, 1965-69 Chevrolet passenger cars and Chevelles with 396 cid engines and Powerglide, and all 1967-69 Chevrolet models with 350 cid engines and Powerglide.

The Corvette application for the GM #3831527 cover may be relatively rare and the 63-65 409 passenger car application may be relatively rare. However, the 65-69 396 application and the 67-69 350 application are decidedly NOT rare. Hundreds of thousands were built. A little salvage yard perusing should turn one up.
