    Hello: I have located a 1963 engine block and have some numbers but I cant seem to figure out some very complicated issues. My build date is early 1964 feb. and the car is a 327/365HP ... does this engine block information check out?????

    casting # 870

    engine vin# 4102271

    did 1964 cars have 1963 sept engine blocks on a feb car?????
    does the vin of a car need to be the same as a vin on a engine???

    Looks Like

    4102271 defines a car build date of October 8, 1963, according to some of the WEB site tools.

    F1001RE define and engine build date of October 1. 327/365.

    It's close but it's possibly 4 months prior to your cars build date.

    What are the last 5 numbers of your VIN

      Re: 1964 engine blockout

      The engine has an October date.
      F = Flint
      10 = October
      01 = 1st
      The serial number is for car number 2271. This car was an October build. You are allowed a 6 month window on the age of the engine. However the serial numbers would have to be changed to include the number on your particular car.

          Re: 1964 engine blockout

          The first 1964 corvette was built in the first few days of September 1963. The last 1964 corvette was built during the third week of July, 1964. Your car was built sometime during the third week of March 1964. The 1964 model year produced cars in 1963 and 1964. The engine build date represents the actual day the engine was built. Therefore, an engine built in 1963 on or about September 1 or possibly earlier, 1963 was targeted for the 1964 model year.

          Yes, an engine built in 1963 can be in a 1964 corvette.
