    69 frame stencil

69 frame stencil , vehicle was produced via build plate D25.
i read this as a car produced November 68 on the 25th day.
this is a convertable 435,427 , stick car
the frame stencil was not legible
now after referring to a book by bizzoco , he states in the frame section that a car from this date should have a 3973880 - ? is this correct and he states it should be 3/4 in # is this correct and what should - aos # be or the lot # to be correct.
Next Joseph a Tripoli Jr states that the # should read 3973880- ?
    and the # S SHOULD be 1"
How do you find out the correct #s , from a judge
I would think that both these gentleman have a great knowledge of the cars
i just have not yet found all the answers.
i have recently seen a vehicle with 3949093- 63 and was not able to find this # in either of these books but did see something in the assembly manual for 69
this particular car had a build of 2.10.69

next how is the stencil printed 3949093-69

    2.10.69
    or 3949093-63

    2.10.69

    Re: 69 frame stencil

Bear in mind the 'date' you're quoting for the car's build date appears to be taken from the trim tag. If so, that would be the date the BODY of the car went through it's build....

To get at the date (or approximate date), your car actually went down the final assy line and it's various sub-assy components met each other (frame, power train, body), you need to interpolate using the actual VIN number of the car against published Chevy data for end-of-the-month production figures. There are several facilities for doing this like the Covette Birthday book as well as various website computational aids some have been the subject of recent thread (within the last few weeks) that you can find by searching prior posts.

'Typically' there wasn't that much delay between body build and final assy, but sometimes there WAS considerable delay. One known example in '69 was cars equipped with side exhaust option. A number 'sat' in limbo waiting on resolution between GM/Chevy and various governmental authorities. So, it's always best to determine your car's approximate build date based on the VIN and not just take the body build date off the trim tag....
