    Confirming Judging Awards

In August 2001 I purchased a Corvette from Tom Barr and it was sold to me as being Silver certified (in 1989 by the other judges in Bloomindale). Regretfully Tom was mislead when he purchased this Corvette in 1998. He responded to an advertisement in an issue of the 1998 Driveline that stated it was Gold certified. I tried to contact and engage that prior seller Tim Gilmore who marketed it as Gold Certified. I am curious how a Silver award became a Gold award.

Tim Gilmore stated he had score sheets showing Gold and received them from a Charles Lillard who in turn obtained the car from John Gardner. Does anyone have the addresses of these 2 fellows? I would like to contact them and find out how a 1989 Silver award became a Gold award. Thanks for you assistance.

Doc, for $75.00 Blomingdale will supply past awards on a car.

If they made a error in adding the numbers on awards day and gave out a gold then later found it should have been a silver what would they do? They do lots of cars in a short period of time . I don't know if this has ever happened but the rush to pass out the awards has to be a challange for the workers.

            I've got one....

My '65 BB was BOTH a Silver Certificate and a Gold Certificate car on the SAME day at Bloomington! Drove through the awards tent after judging to have Dave Burroughs hand me a Silver Certificate. Drove off scratchin' my head wondering why a Duntov Mark of Excellence car only merited a Silver Certificate at NCCB.

Back at ye olde enclosed car hauler, looking over the score sheet things didn't make sense. Went back and asked what was up. Judging officials scratched their heads and took the paperwork back to tabulations to find there was INDEED a computational error.

They changed records, invited me back to the awards tent, stopped the ceremony and re-presented the correct award certificate with sincere apologies. Hey, couldn't ask for any fairer treatment!!!!
