Question on Dealer in New Jersey

My 1963 Split Window Coupe was originally bought from STAR Chevrolet in East Orange, NJ. I know this dealership is no longer in business. What I am trying to find out is if they were bought out, merged, or just ceased to exist? I am trying to track down documentation on my car and figure if they were bought out or merged (long shot here I know) that there might be a way of getting some information. Anybody have any clues for me.

    Thanks.

Chevy has closed many innercity dealerships in this area. Alot of them just shut their doors and weren't purchased or combined with other dealers. Most of the only ones that are left are high volume hi-way dealers. Don't give up hope .

Rick If you have any luck let me know. My 66 also came from Star but I have had no luck. I posted here and also contacted the NCRS leaders in N.J. but know one had any iformation other than it did at one time exist.

Just a suggestion: If you have the address of the dealer at the time, perhaps you can have a property title search done through the town records. That would give you the owner of the property back then (perhaps not the same owner as the dealership though) and maybe he can be tracked down. If he owned the property, he should know what happened to the dealership.
        Good Luck.

Rick, Years ago I tried to track down the dealer where my 67 L71 was sold. My build sheet said zone 35, dealer 301. I called a GM office that told me it was Star Chev which became Gregory Chev which was no longer in business at the time (1981). Hope this helps.
