    66 wiper arm

I have car with one side arm base polished, and other side brushed. I understand that polished base is correct. Anyone know how to remove base and where to find quality replacement part?

Hi Seth- You might try Tom Maxwell as a source. He advertises in the Driveline, mostly for 58-62 applications, but I'd think he'd have access to mid-year stuff as well. He specializes in quality original stuff and is very accomodating to talk to. Try him at (301) 948-9481.

Seth - Which arm do you need? I have a brushed right side that I would trade for a polished one. If interested let me know...I'm leaving for Bowling Green Regional early Wednesday...

BTW, it would be nice if you left you e-mail address when posting. Please e-mail me direct...

Sounds like others fixed you up on where to find replacements, but nobody answered your wiper arm removal question. There's a keeper lock arm that snaps into place below the drive hub. You have to push it back to clear the drive hub, then pull the arm straight off the hub.

Many try to do this with a screw driver and wind up scratching the arm and/or the cowl vent below the hub. There's a simple wiper arm removal tool that can be obtained through local auto parts stores (JC Whitney catalog too) that runs a few bucks. It's padded to protect against scratch.

It's an L-shaped tool that hooks over the keeper lock arm and pulls it free/clear while the longer branch of the L rides against the arm and hub socket to support the lift action. Fast easy, no sweat tool....
