I've been pricing out the components for the rebuild of my engine ('64 327/300)and am puzzled by some camshaft prices. On the GM site a camshaft kit is listed, bluprinted cam made by Crane with 16 tappits for about $120 (part #12364051). When I price the lifters alone, though, the price is over $70 (part #12371044). Are they different lifters than come with the kit? If not, something seems wrong to me - that would make the cam only $50. The cheepest I've seen it for alone is aobut $100. What am I missing?

Re: C2 327/300 Camshaft
The 929 has been the service replacement for the 3733431 as long as I can remember and should essentially duplicate the characteristicc of the 431, but is probably an improvement as Chevrolet learned a lot about valve train dynamics and volumetric efficiency in the sixties. A dual pattern design is proper for a SB because of the relatively restrictive exhaust relative to the inlet port. A bit more exhaust duration usually works better.
Like John said, it has gobs of low end torque and a silky smooth 500 RPM idle and is considered "The 300 HP cam."
