The needle on my 1957 Tachometer guage has apparently slipped out of the home position and now sits at about 1500 rpm when the engine is off. Is there any way that I can easily reset it to zero? Thanks.

Re: 1957 Tachometer
Dan,
Run your 57 up to about 8500 RPM in high gear, just watch for the cops. That should turn the needle to about the right place.
Seriously, most cities have a speedometer shop that can move it, while you watch closely over their shoulder.
If you don't feel comfortable with anyone local, look at the ads in the Driveline.

Re: 1957 Tachometer
Dan,
It is not very hard to remove the tach, take it apart and set the needle in the correct position. The case is crimped to the inner bezel. You will have to uncrimp the inner bezel to get remove the lenses and get at the needle. The needle is held onto its shaft with a friction fit. CAREFULLY pry it off and reset it in the proper position. This is a little tricky as you will have the lens with the zero indicator off when you install the needle. The needle will also go below zero.
http://www.corvetteinstruments.com will also do it for you at a very reasonable cost.
Good Luck.
