I need to find a distributor cap for my '70 LT-1 with T.I. I have checked a lot of sources, and I'm getting a lot of conflicting information. I know it's supposed to say Delco-Remy Patent R (or something like that....) but some sources say there is a patent number after it, some don't. Anybody know what cap is to go on my car? Any help is very appreciated!!

Re: '70 LT-1 T.I. Dist. Cap
Dave:
I have a 72 BB with 5900 miles, it's dist. cap has Delco-Remy R and Patent 2769047. The patent number reflects a fairly old patent issue date. I know there has been a lot of ? around the correct cap. Has it been resolved.- Top

Re: '70 LT-1 T.I. Dist. Cap *TL*
Bernie,
Did you buy your 1972 new? I usually don't see the patent number on the cap until 1973 or 1974. Some 1968s have the patent number cap, but the numbers are smaller than the later caps IIRC.

Re: '70 LT-1 T.I. Dist. Cap
Hi Bernie,
My information comes from the NCRS research and various discussions with people over the years. Seems to me that patent number(047) R caps were introduced around 73 as Terry stated. I certainally is possible that your cap is original but it would be the first such example I have heard of.- Top
