Re: Chrome Replating
It seems that I've seen "new" 68-72 bumpers for sale in several catalogs for approximately $380.00. What part of the country are you from? There are many reputable platers here on the East Coast that I could recommend. Chuck Gongloff1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight

Re: Chrome Replating
i am located in Charlotte, NC. I have seen the ads in Ecklers, Paragon, Zip, Corvette America, Corvette Central etc., for the bumper, all around 380.00. All of these source out their plating and purchase of these types of products. I want to go direct to someone who does plating.- Top

Re: Chrome Replating
Hello Michael; You're an "East Coast" guy too. I've had good luck with Martin's in Philadelphia. They're very expensive, but produce top quality products. Also Librandi's Plating in Harrisburg, PA does excellent work, as does Procino's Plating in Blades, Delaware. Recently, at several Carlisle shows, I have exchanged, or have been with friends who have exchanged bumpers and other pieces with the "Bumper Boyz", who are based in Los Angeles, California. The Bumper Boyz will take your old bumper and exchange it for a nice rechromed one....seems that it cost about $150.00 exchange. You can look over their rechromed bumper before you take it...sort of the best of both worlds. Hope this helps. Don't know of any chrome platers in Charlotte, but my wife and I love to go to Charlotte every fall for the Winston Cup races at the speedway. If you can't find phone numbers in Hemmings, etc., E Mail me and I'll get them for you. Chuck Gongloff1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight

Re: Chrome Replating
Having once been in the restoration business, we discovered in the past few years that it is less expensive to buy one of Paragon's repro bumpers rather than replate. Their quality is very good. The last set of mid-year bumpers that we had re-plated cost much more than new ones would have. Also note that many platers will dip the entire piece thus plating the back side also. There are (or were) some good platers in the Bristol and Johnson City area, not too far from you. Just balance all the factors and decide which is better for you.- Top
