    C2 Window Weatherstripping

I am replacing the window weatherstripping on my 64 convertible. When I removed the old outside rubber and inside felt, they were attached with screws and staples. I removed the screws and will reuse them but how do I replace the staples? Is there an adhesive that I can use as an alternative? The car is a driver but I want to be as true to the factory as makes sense economically and timely.

Thanks in advance for your response.

The staples are not as difficult as they might appear. You can buy them from several sources (Long Island Corvette, Paragon ect.). I installed the inside felt peice a couple of years age and I am about to do the exterior this winter. The mud flaps are also fastened the same way. You can line them in position and drill holes with a 1/16" drill bit, slide in the staple and fold over the back side. It was not that hard to do.

I have my replacement rubber wipes in the garage I'll have to check them, but memory tells me they had no holes in them. When I installed the mud flaps in the wheel wells the replacement flaps had no holes in them. I held them in position with one hand and drilled through the wheel side using the old holes as a guide. Then went to the engine side and pushed them through. I used a block of wood over the flaps, it gave me something solid to drill into and left a little saw dust on the hole to make it easier to find. I didn't create any added holes that way.
