    Spindle bearing end play

The service manual says this should be 0.001" to 0.008" On one side I have a choice of 0.0015 or 0.0075. Which is best? The shims come in .006" increments. 67 Convertible. Thanks

Go with what's in spec - .0015". IMO the closer you are to minimum, the better.

      Fitting spindle shims

      John -

You can sand shims against a sheet of glass to reduce the thickness a few thousandths. I use 220 grit paper and a 1/4" think sheet of new window glass. It helps to keep the paper wet with WD-40 or some other light lube.

Thanks Guys. I'll keep it close to the low end of the tolerance.
