I have a '66 driver with the original Holley carb. I had the carb rebuilt a couple years ago and it ran great until this past summer. It runs ok, but the float bowls drain when the car sits for a couple days, making it hard to start. My question is, should I work on the original to get it running properly again or get a new aftermarket? As I said, this car is a nice driver (non-original block), so dependability is important. What aftermarket carb would be a recommendation? I'd want it to use the original intake, linkage, air cleaner and it must fit under the hood.

Re: C2 Carb
My opinion is, that any correct style Holley that you put on will eventially have the same problem. It is THE most common problem area. So putting a new one on vs the old one is only going to buy you a little time. The thing to do is to have someone that knows that carb, rebuild it with solving those problems in mind. That should take care of it for a long time, but a word of caution, If you let it sit and the bowls dry out or you have problems with backfire, you may still have problems. So fix it and use it.- Top

Re: C2 Carb
an electric fuel pump may help if you have no strong objection to using one.
i've had one for years and i love it. the noise is no problem because i use side pipes and i can't hear anything anyway except a loud yell from my wife [slow downnnnn!!]- Top
