    Riveting C2 wing window insitu

    Hello everyone

Just replaced my vent window weatherstrip and had to remove the hinge rivet in doing so. Has anyone had any success peening the rivet over while it is on the car. Other than using something very solid on top and physically hammering the bottom? Or is that the only way.
    Best Regards

I replaced the rivet also, with one from Long Island Corvette. I asked several body shops until I found one that had the tool to do it. It is kind of a "C clamp" that squeezes the rivet and can be done with the vent window on the car, or off. If it is an original rivet, it is very hard and you definately need the right tool, especially if you are doing it with the window still in the door.

I can't offer much help as I am about to do the same job and have the same question, but I did find a tool in the Volunteer Vette Products catalog for this job. It is part # TL42, small rivet tool for vent doors. Has any one used this tool? Paragon also offers a vent window rebuild service for vent windows.
