    MBS BEARINGS

I ORDERED FRONT ROLLER BEARINGS FOR MY 1961. THEY ARE MBS BRAND, MADE IN JAPAN. I AM CONCERNED WITH THE QUALITY OF IMPORTED PARTS. HAS ANYONE USED THIS BRAND BEFORE? IF SO HOW IS THE QUALITY? THANKS, JOE #37862

    Joe-----

I'm not familiar with the MBS brand bearings. However, many Delco bearings are now made in Japan. In general, I consider the Japanese-manufactured bearings to be among the finest in the world. Like it or not, that's the way it is.

Yes, I am familiar with them and I use them in my 56 and 51 Chevy 4dr which I drive to work 40mi everyday.
Also, you never see a bearing go bad on a Honda or Toyota! Sorry, but as mentioned, that's the way it is.

Japanese bearings are excellent...no worries at all. If you go to your local bearing house, it is getting pretty hard to even find that many US made bearings these days, just like everything else I guess, we are pricing ourselves out of the market. However, I have purchased some FAG bearings for electric motors, some were US made, some were German. Many of the bearings are from all kinds of countries...but I personally try to stay with US, Canadian, German, or Japanese. Of course, Timken roller bearings are US made...and you can save HUGE by purchasing at a bearing house versus an auto supply chain or dealer....Craig

Craig is right ANY one needing ANY bearing for ANY car or Corvette can save BIG time by going to a bearing house for thier bearings, and not a parts house or Corvette dealer.I'v said this many time in all the articles I'v written.

              Re: MBS BEARINGS COST RESPONSE

Agreed, absolutely, 100%----------BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT, not every city, even some of the bigger cities, DO NOT have bearing houses available. And, if you buy a bearing from out of town (to get a better price) and have it shipped, by the time you add on shipping/handeling, it is about the same price as it would have been to buy it at a local auto parts house. Plus, you don't have to wait for it to be shipped, especially if it is needed immediately.

The last Timken front wheel bearings I purchased for my 1980 were made in Poland and Brazil. These were from a local industrial supply house. In any case the quality of the bearing was fine.
