    67 column bearing

My 67 steering wheel has up and down play and I know I need a column bearing , but was told there are two kinds. How can I know which one I need??

If you have up and down play, you may have a "tang/clip" broken off of the sterring column tube. I thouht I needed the upper bearing replaced but it ended up being the tang on the column tube.

      Roy -

The same upper bearing was used on all 67's; two different lower bearings were used - one for "early" cars through February, and one for "late" cars after February - LICS has both types.

John thanks , I thought it was the upper bearing have two different ones. The upper I think I need? Where should I order one?
Jame thanks, Where is the tang located , at the bearing seat? should I remove the steering wheel to check?.
I'm into 55 Corvettes mostly, but my 67 coup 327-350hp-4sp and is dead stock , second owner, goes like a raped Ape, why she is so fast geting up to 110 MPH I never could understand. But I love it so.

I thought my '67 upper bearing was also worn out and ordered a new one from LI too. When I dis-assembled everything I discovered that the area where the upper bearing is installed was warn and the bearing was slipping around. I used some JB weld to tighten things up and I no longer have any steering wheel movement.
A search of the archives turned up similar experiences of worn bearing seats.

I just got the bearing from Corvette Stop for $35.00 and they told me that there are three tangs that hold the bearing in and tight. To remove the bearing I had to brake the tangs install the new bearing and cement it in, As scott said
