Can anyone tell me if the vacuum canister for a 1966 distributor 350 hp is the same as for a 300 hp. I think mine might be for a 300 hp and don't know if I need to change it. Any help would be appreciated

Re: 1966 distributor vacuum *TL*
Well I still have the Delco book out from the answer below. Maybe I should keep it at hand.
1966 300 hp dist = 1111153 vacuum can is 1115355
1966 350 hp dist = 1111156 vacuum can is 1116236
1966 350 hp dist TI = 1111157 vacuum can is 1116236
One would have to look at original cars, but I would expect the 350 vacuum to have 236 stamped in it, and the 300 to have 355 stamped in it. Don't spend all the milk money on a vacuum unit until you hear from some folks with original cars. It doesn't happen often, but I have seen cases where what is "in the book" is not what was put on the cars.

Re: 1966 distributor vacuum
The "236" is the correct vacuum can for the '66 L-79 (0*@4", 16*@8"), but don't spend big bucks for a NOS version. The NAPA/Echlin VC 1810 is functionally equivalent, although it is stamped "B28" on the bracket rather that "236-16" as on a NOS Delco.
At Monterey last summer I asked the 63-64 Team Leader about "incorrect" vacuum cans and he said in so many words - if it's not in the book we don't deduct.
There is nothing about the vacuum can numbers in the current 63-64 JG, but I don't know if anything is said in the '66 JG.
The NAPA/Echlin cans have the same outside geometry - looks just like the original Delco can - just the different ID number stamped on the bracket and it's my understanding that if you buy a current "Delco" 236 vacuum can, you get the same one stamped "B28" as Delco is now apparently just purchases them from Dana Controls.
