How does one get a new tach drive cable with the knurled nuts into the weather seal that attaches to the firewall. Any tricks?

The way I do it is to install the seal on the cable, then put the cable through the wide open hole and slide the seal down the cable and work it into the hole. If more than one cable or wire etc, get them all through the open hole, install the seal onto the cables and do the same. Kind of like one of thoes "Tavern Brain Teasers' you got for christmas...- Top

John--
It certainly does fit tight. there's one end of the cable that has a knurled nut that is smaller than the other knurled nut (the tach end, not the distributor end). I usually utilize that end--though there is a challenge, because that end has to go through the bellows-type seal from the engine side. I generally turn the bellows-type seal inside-out on the top portion, use a silicone spray or grease, and carefully work it through. It will almost certainly destroy an original seal, but will work through a new reproduction one. Good luck!
