If your car is not repainted the exact original color-------- say a dark blue used in 73, and has been repainted with a Ford 95 dark blue, How many points deduction should I expect for this. Hey I didn't do it, I purchased the car this way. All numbers matching, but, am I to understand that a Bloomington CERT is out of the question due to the paint being what it is? I just don't want to go through all the hoop-la and end up just spinning my wheels.

This is covered in the NCRS Judging Reference Manual (the 'white' book), Section 4, Standard Deductions, Rule 12, Altered Cars....

"Variation of Exterior Color Paint Shade; 20% Originality Deduction"

Soooo, you take the current Judging Score Sheet for your particular model/year Corvette, look up how many points are allocated to Originality in exterior paint and compute the 20% deduction. Bear in mind, there may be further deduction(s) for composition of the paint (enamel vs. lacquer) as well as its application (obvious clear coat) compared to known factory original techniques of the period.

Greg, There may be little if any deduction if the paint COLOR is the same shade of blue. There are 2 areas specific to exterior paint.BODY COLOR is one and BODY PAINT the other. I do know that you can still recieve an NCRS TOP FLIGHT award with the wrong shade or a base/clear paint job. I don't know if that's possible at Bloomington.

TOP FLIGHT WOULD SUIT ME JUST FINE. The shade coloring is fine, and it is not bc/cc, so, I can only hope the judges had a peaceful night (prior) to looking at her. THIS IS GREAT! I never dreamed of this, and now I have it sitting in the garage.
