1960 water pump

Can anyone tell me what type screws attached the rear cover on a 493 water pump? I have recently aquired 2 cores and 1 has the indented hex head screws and the other has slotted, binding head screws like the timing cover is attached with. Both pumps had the solid style rear cover plate and neither appeared to have been rebuilt, but obviously only one is correct!

I believe the slotted vs hex head fasteners are what's considered 'factory correct' for your '493 water pump, John....
