Does the GM replacement C1 voltage regulator look like the original? Does it still have the stamped lettering on the cover?

Re: C1 voltage regulator
The 53 to 55 Cover said Delco , the easy way to pick one out from later or replacements- is that the cover srews ( long ) go through the cover TOP corners. Where as the later 56 and up the srews ( short )are located at the lower sides. .825 was 55 Corvette. Both are vary hard to locate, sellers and dealers usely don't even know this.To many people are in to numbers and not what the part should look like.- Top

Dave-----
I think that the covers are generally interchangeable, but I don't know that for a fact. Also, other aspects of external configuration are different on the new units compared to the originals. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C1 voltage regulator
Dave,
I'm no voltage regulator expert, but in the March-April issue of the Driveline, Lectric Limited advertises that it has "new OEM quality" regulators that have covers that can be replaced with the original. FYI

How to recognize 55?
There are a couple of 55-57 Chev outfits in my area, not to mention Spring Carlisle. If I look at a pile of regulators, how will I spot a '55 verses a later unit? The one in my car is an Echlin, which "resembles" the Delco, but without the rasied letters. I put it in many years ago, to replace a "Sears" VR, which was installed back in the sixties, I guess.- Top
