i picked up 6 air cleaner rings yesterday at a junkyard that were in an old school bus full of corvette parts. there were three different ones. all three were completely round. two had 5 slots cutout in them. two had three slots cutout in them. and two had 3 slots cutout in them but the circular top was offset to one side about an inch or so. anyone know which is correct for my 74 and what corvette application the others are for?

The 2 offset ones are 454 and are 73-74 with 3 slots. The 2 round ones with 3 slots are 73-74 with a 350 . That would leave the 2 round ones with 5 slots as 1975 with a 350 but the 75's I can't be sure of as I have no examples.Lyle

Re: 73, 74 & 75 air cleaner ring mystery
Hmmm.... what are air cleaner rings? It is late and I'm about ready to "call it a day", but I have a 75 which has an air cleaner with two snorkels, a top for the air filter and a rubber seal for the hood induction system. Am I missing a ring somewhere?- Top

Re: 73, 74 & 75 air cleaner ring mystery
the ring is what the rubber seal is glued on to. it is removable from the air cleaner. just pull it out. i would love to know how many slots are cut into your 75 ring and if your sure or not if it's original to the car.- Top

Re: 73, 74 & 75 air cleaner ring mystery
My 75 is original. Can't go out and look because it's 200 miles away "hibernating". However, as I recall, the "ring" has at least two notches which allow proper indexing over the two snorkels to ensure the rubber gasket contacts the sloping underside of the cowl induction box correctly.
The assembly manual shows at least one other notch in the flange ("ring"), in addition to the two for the snorkels.
Next time I see "OldSlowVette" I'll check it out for you.
Have a Happy New Year!!- Top
