Hi - and Happy Holidays, While installing the passenger's seat belt retractor in the "well" under the seat of my 77, I noticed a hole that is drilled through the floor. Sure enough, the AIM has a note that there should be an open hole (probably for drainage). When I checked the driver's side NO HOLE! I have a couple of questions. Are the holes actually supposed to be open to the outside? Should they have plastic body plugs in them? Should I drill a hole in the driver's side? Interestingly enough, the passenger's retractor is being replaced because the old retractor was a mass of rust. The driver's retractor is still in good condition. So now I'm wondering if the holes drain moisture or allow it to intrude? Any ideas? Thanks Steve

Re: 77 seat belt installation
Reba the 68 Corvettes have retractors on the seat belt that mount under the seats. On page 32 of the owners manual it states "For retractor equipped belts, pull retractor half of the belts to a solid stop to make sure that the belt webbing is completely unwound from the retractor drum, then connect the belt and make the necessary adjustments at the buckle for the proper fit."
The retarctor is hidden from view in the black plastic housing.- Top
