1969 Headlight Mounting Rear Cup

I'm in the process of assembling the headlights. I need to know which cup goes where. They are marked A,B,C,D, but the AIM only shows part numbers which are not stamped on the cups. I thought that I had marked them correctly to know where they were to go and they look correct, but the since I going for Flight Judging I want to make sure I have them in the correct location. Can some one (perhaps Joe L since he has a 1969) tell me where each one goes?

You really can't put them in wrong. If they fit (the are notched differently) the adjuster screws and the headlight goes in right side up (again, that is part of the initial orientation), they will be correct. On the earlier ones, the tabs are stamped really lightly with an "L" or an "R", and also with a "1" or a "2". That also helps--but I've not looked at that on my 69.

The top upper adjuster tab (next to where the adjuster screw is) is only stamped with a letters A,B,C or D as mentioned in my previous e-mail. Can you look at your car and see how they are located? It may be dificult to see the letter see depending on how clean it is ? You should be able to see the letter with any disassembly all thought a flashlight might help.

George If you install them as Mike said I think you will be ok. I had small block valve covers on the wrong sides and it was pointed out by a show vistior. I didn't want to mess up the paint and got two Top flights before I had to switch them. I have a set loose buckets that I marked and will check them for letters.

I'd like to help, but I just don't recall the stampings on these parts. It's been years since I had mine out and disassembled. I do think, though, that if you do it the way that Mike Ernst suggests, you can't get it wrong too easily.
