Maybe it was my Friday the 13th luck. Mo replies to my post from Friday regarding how to recover headrests on seats from a '69. Here's another plea for help or advice.
I just got the original seats for my '69 some 4+ years after I purchased it (long story of pestering the prior owner deleted for brevity). I've been following the series of articles in "Cars and Parts Corvette" that outlines how to recover '69 seats in pretty good detail, but it does not address how to tackle the headrests. I'm planning to replace the seat foam and seat covers myself, but am wondering if the headrests are a DIY job as well.
I want to put the correct ABS covers on the headrests. The foam should also be replaced too, since it's gotten dry and is a bit crumbly. Is this something I can tackle myself? If so, what are the common "gotchas"? In looking at the headrests, I can't envision how to get molded covers on them as a DIY job. I see that Corvette America offers a service to recover the headrests for only $20 more than the cost of the ABS covers and new foam. Is this a better route to take?
Thanks as always for any input!
