    Sunray DX Corvettes

Does anyone have any information about what colour of blue was used on the Sunray DX L-88 cars? These cars ran at Sebring, Le Mans and were driven by Bondo, Guldstrand, and others. I'm building a model of the '67 Le Mans car and am having trouble figuring out what colour of blue to use. I know it's not '67 Marina blue, and I'm pretty sure it's not Lynndale blue either. Thanks in advance for any help!

Check with Richard Prince. He owns the 1967 car, and is a great guy. He writes for all the Corvette magazines, and I'm sure they have a way to contact him. Say Hi to him for me. We had lunch together at Laguna Seca in August.

Go to this link for the 2002 auction description. My views of the photo confirms that it was Sunoco Blue.

Tom, thanks for the link, there were some good pictures and info there. I do not think, however, that the blue is Sunoco blue.
The blue looks metallic, and Sunoco blue was never that. Also, Sun Oil and Sunray DX Oil merged in October '68, about a year and a half after the cars debut at Sebring. I can't imagine that prior to the merger that Sunray DX would use a colour of their competitor.
Penske was already using Sun Oil Company (SunOCo) as a major sponsor for his racing efforts; witness the first L88 Corvette built in 1966 and painted Sunoco blue. That car is currently owned by Kevin Mackay.
Thanks for the help anyway, though, that article did give me a couple of pics that I didn't have.

            Steve,

I'll try and send this link to Richard Prince in the next day or so and see if he can respond to you. I have his e-mail address at home.

That would be great Patrick! I just dug up the editor or Vette mag and was going to call him and see if he had contact info for him.
Thanks alot, that would be a great help!
