I am trying to determine if my brake calipers are original to the car. What casting numbers should I find on my 65 coupe calipers? I need to determine if I should have mine rebuilt or exchange for rebuilt . Thanks

If correct for 65-66, ALL of your 7 digit caliper half casting numbers will begin with "546". ALL 65-66 caliper casting numbers began with this series of numbers and no other year castings began with "546". So, it's very easy to tell if the castings are correct for your car. There is no positive way to tell if they are ORIGINAL to your car. But, that's really an "academic" point.
Some early 1967 calipers MAY have been of the 65-66 casting and design. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 65 calipers (other identifiers)
Mike, Joe's note on the first digits of the casting #'s is a good indicator. I can give you the exact #'s if you wish. '65 and '66 castings MAY have had Julian dates -- the numbers between the screw head imprints (the jury is out on this) but later years had other numbering systems.
Another is if the pistons have the black bakelite wafer held on by a screw; this indicates pistons with a guide.- Top
